Cape - Nuchu

by Kapikua

The fabric of the Nuchu piece is made by hand with organic cotton threads woven on pedal loom. A special technique is used to weave the threads with loose tension making it a very light wear.

Its blue shade comes from the process of dyeing over wood fire with indigo plants.

The Nuchu Cape is highlighted with the representation of a person on the back of the cape, woven by hand using the ancient technique of reverse appliqué Mola. This technique originated from the Guna culture, closely connected to the stars and the spiritual realm.

Comes in one size only.

Kapikua unites cultures, beliefs and traditions of indigenous communities in Mexico, where women process and naturally dye the cotton, with Guna Yala women in Panama who weave the unique detailing featured in their pieces.
